Preview Thursday 2nd September 18.30 - 21.00. Show continues until 9th September (viewing by appointment only).

Monica Biagioli - Time Elapsed, 2010.

In working on this series of drawings, the focus is the passage of time-- the sense of time passing, punctuated by dots being meticulously placed one by one by hand on the paper to create the work; the time elapsed since the previous works in the series were made in 1998; and the depth of time reflected in the subject of the works on paper that reference residues of ancient civilisations in the form of icons and remains found at archaeological sites.

Brian Reed - Confident Reach, 2010

In the series of works, Confident Reach, the faint image of a forest is embedded into the textual surface of the large grid structure. Forests and practically ancient forests have a spiritual place within human culture. They are used in our mythologies and fair tales as places of danger and of spiritual and physical grow through rites of passages. They link the ancient and new and are at the forefront of the environmental debate.

The process lead approach is visually inspired by old maps that have become fragile through usage and time. The different coloured sections suggest altered states and perceptions, the painted lines within the folds create pulses of energy that race through the grid surface looking to make a connection; the whole forms an abstracted esoteric map of states of existence, spiritual beings and the Universe.
